Women in Alignment is a professional membership network for women in business, founded and operated by Kay McKenzie. We operate across the following platforms and touchpoints:

  • Paid membership: The Inner Circle (monthly and annual)

For the purposes of data protection law, Women in Alignment (Kay McKenzie) is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

What Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

  • Business profile data: industry, niche, ideal client description, referral ask, website URL, social media handles, and business offer details — submitted via the Connection Concierge intake form
  • Payment data: billing information processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details — these are held securely by Stripe
  • Communications: any messages, emails, or enquiries you send to us
  • Community content: posts, comments, and interactions within the WIA Facebook community or member portal

  • Usage data: pages visited, time spent on site, clicks, and navigation behaviour on our websites
  • Device & technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers

  • Information from Facebook if you join or engage with our community group
  • Referral data if you were referred to us by an existing member via a referral link

  • When you join The Inner Circle via our Stripe checkout page
  • When you complete the Connection Concierge intake form via LeadConnector upon joining
  • When you register for or attend our Wednesday or Thursday networking meetings

  • When you engage with our email communications (opens, clicks)
  • When you participate in our Facebook community or member portal
  • When you visit our websites, via cookies and analytics tools
  • When you are referred to us by an existing member using a referral link

Why We Use Your Data

  • To curate and deliver your six monthly high-quality warm introductions based on your Connection Concierge profile
  • To send you meeting links, onboarding materials, and membership communications
  • To grant you access to the masterclass library, templates, coaching sessions, and community portal
  • To process and credit referral rewards when applicable
To operate and improve our programmes
  • To analyse how members engage with our content, meetings, and community
  • To improve the quality and relevance of our matching process
  • To develop new features, offerings, and member resources

  • To send membership updates, announcements, and administrative notices
  • To send marketing communications about Women in Alignment programmes (where you have consented or we have a legitimate interest to do so)

Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable data protection law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing your personal data, we rely on the following:

  • Contract: processing necessary to deliver your membership and fulfil our obligations to you as a paying member

You may withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share your data only with the following categories of third parties, and only to the extent necessary:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe processes your billing data under their own privacy policy. We receive only payment confirmation, not your full card details.
  • LeadConnector / GoHighLevel — our CRM platform, used to store your profile data, manage communications, and host the Connection Concierge intake form.
  • Google — our weekly meetings are hosted on Google Meet. Google processes connection data in accordance with their privacy policy.
  • Facebook / Meta — our free community and some member communications operate via Facebook Group. Meta processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
  • Email service providers — used to send transactional and marketing emails to members.
  • Professional advisors — accountants, lawyers, or auditors where required by law or legitimate business need, under strict confidentiality obligations.
  • Law enforcement or regulators — where we are legally required to disclose information.

All third-party service providers are required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

Data Shared Within the Membership

As a core part of The Inner Circle service, certain elements of your profile are shared with other members and introduction recipients. By joining, you consent to the following:

  • Your name, business name, and professional description may be shared with members to whom you are introduced
  • Your referral ask and ideal client profile may be shared with the member or contact being introduced to you, to facilitate a meaningful connection
  • Your name and business may be visible within the private members community portal and during weekly meeting sessions

We do not share your email address, phone number, or payment information with other members. You may update your profile information at any time through your member account.

International Data Transfers

Women in Alignment serves members globally. Some of our third-party service providers — including Stripe, LeadConnector, Google, and Meta — are based in or process data in the United States or other countries outside your own.

Where your data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including reliance on Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms as required by applicable data protection law.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Our general retention approach is as follows:

  • Member account and profile data: retained for the duration of your membership, plus up to 2 years after cancellation to allow for account reinstatement and to comply with legal obligations
  • Payment and billing records: retained for 7 years in accordance with financial record-keeping requirements
  • Email communications and enquiries: retained for up to 3 years after your last interaction with us
  • Marketing consent records: retained for as long as you remain on our mailing list, plus a reasonable period after unsubscription
  • Website analytics data: retained in aggregated or anonymised form; identifiable data typically retained for up to 26 months

When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

The Inner Circle and all Women in Alignment programmes are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.

If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete that information.
